Lake Murray
Lake Murray is located within Mission Trails Regional Park, which
is in between the communities of La Mesa, Santee, and Grossmont.
Lake Murray is surrounded by a protected wildlife and habitat.
Construction of the dam at Lake Muray was completed in 1918, the
same year Hodges Dam was finished. The Bent Bros. of Los Angles
were the architects of the Lake Murray Dam and the Lake Hodges Dam.
The Alvarado Water Treatment Plant was created especially for Lake
Murray, in 1950, due to the reservoir being surrounded by three
communities.
Lake Murray Reservoir has 171 surface acres, 3.2 miles of shoreline,
and a maximum depth of 95 feet. Lake Murray is one of the San Diego
lakes that is producing 10 lb. bass on a regular basis. Actually
it is not uncommon to catch a 15 pounder. The types of fish you
will find are Florida-strain Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Channel
Catfish, Black Crappies, and Rainbow Trout.
