Lake Jennings
Lake Jennings is located in the hills between Lakeside and El Cajon.
This lake is probably one of the anglers favorite place to catch
HUGH catfish. Use Mackrel or Nightcrawlers in Hermit, Half Moon
Cove, or Siesta and I can guarantee loads of fun!
In 1964, the completion of a dam at lake jennings created a reservoir
for all the residents of East County. Later a treatment plant was
installed to monitor and clense the water. Lake Jennings has about
85 surface areas and sits at an altitude of 700 ft. above sea level.
Lake Jennings is a joint venture between the San Diego County Department
of Parks & Recreation and The Helix Water District.
Blue Catfish are among the larger fish in this lake and it is
not surprising to find a standard size 15 pounder. Lake Jennings
stocks Channel Catfish during the summer months and Rainbow Trout
during the winter months. You will find other fish in this lake
such as the infamous Largemouth Bass or the really neat looking
Redear Sunfish.
